It gets colder, but yes I'm in the Canary Islands, so no one would believe I need a heater and warm socks lol. But the truth is that once the house gets cold, until next summer, we're done...

I don't think any natural Christmas tree for sale is grown in the islands, they are probably imported, so not only it's difficult to find them, but also feels kind of wrong, so many years ago my mother got a lovely artificial one that has lasted 25 years or so and still looking beautiful

Probably that's why I loved Dust Bunny's blooming tree, full of flowers. An original alternative to the traditional Christmas tree, especially for warm places. Still I'm all for red wines and hot chocolate to keep warm inside ;)

I can't believe we're well in December. 
The last few months have been slow but have also flown away.
My inspiration is still shy and I'm really missing decorating and working on my blog.
I've always loved Christmas, and now it's time to start with the food prep and getting the decorations out, I think this year the menu will be a bit different ;)

Make yourself a priority

We know about the importance of self-care, being kind to yourself, resting, and recharging your energy.
Not only for your well-being but also to be able to give back and help others.

Two months ago today, I was admitted to the hospital for what I thought was a flare-up of Crohn's disease. In my mind, I thought it would be a matter of a couple of days, maybe a week, but it ended up being 7 weeks!

The medication wasn't enough, I needed surgery and had to wait 3 weeks for it to be scheduled. I was told it will be on the 14th, and then 8am on the 5th, surprise!! you are having surgery this afternoon! Besides the complications and subsequent infections, it has been quite a journey!

Today marks 1 month since surgery and 2 weeks back home, I finally begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Without pain, I can move more and better, always with the girdle on, I can walk longer and I can sit still for a couple of hours :P

Day by day I feel more like myself now.

 I had my laptop with me in the hospital, but my head wasn't there, so even if I had a lot of "free time", I tried, but I didn't manage to be productive, I didn't finish my book, I didn't paint, I didn't take photos or edit, it was like if my brain wouldn't focus for more than an hour.

I guess our body somehow knows when it needs a break and decides to focus on what matters to it, so there were plenty of daytime naps, a fuzzy brain, and hours... slipping through my fingers.

I never expected that this would take so long, I contacted some of my sponsors, because I could not meet the deadlines and I apologize for any inconvenience that may have caused, but this time I did have to radically put myself first.

Although my creativity has been greatly diminished and I feel blocked, I miss decorating and taking photos, so little by little I hope to be more active again and blog more, there are so many beautiful creations to feature...
